How to Reformat Your Computer – Part 1

by Alpha Networker on December 13, 2009

I decided to re-format my computer a few days ago.

And I wanted to blog about the programs I installed, so someone who wanted to know what I consider to be the most important programs could copy what I do.

Now I had intended to do this when I got this computer initially, nearly two years ago, but it never materialized.

So in this series of posts, I’ll explain what I did.

But first, the why!

Basically, my computer got so full of programs, etc, that it started to slow down. Not so much that work was impossible, but definitely annoying after a re-boot.

Lack of speed, to me, is annoying.

And after backing everything up and re-installing Vista.

Yup, it’s super fast again!

Now, granted, that’s without very many programs installed yet. (And I use a ton!)

It went from a 2-5 minute boot-up time to under 30 seconds.

I should have timed an average startup before I re-formatted, but oh well.

Check back tomorrow to see my first steps….
