Peter Drucker Quote: Sales Vs Marketing

by Alpha Networker on November 24, 2009

Peter Drucker, one of the greatest business thinkers of all time said…

“…the aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.”

It’s a great quote. In the video below, I explain what this means in relations to network marketing, and particularly, marketing on the internet.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the insight and the image you created. I think that marketing and sales are concepts most small business owners mix up. I learned after doing years of sales that marketing is more powerful (and easier to manage).

There are people working IN their business (usually the people focusing on sales) and people working ON their business to grow it (using marketing).

You are good in what you do because you know the difference. You let your business work for you!

Again thanks for the video!

That is when you know you’ve done a good job marketing. When customers come to you and you don’t have to go to them anymore.
